Carl Verheyen

Carl Verheyen is not only known as the guitar player for recordings and tours with British rock band SUPERTRAMP, but has also taken part in countless soundtracks for film and television music. He is definitely one of the best guitar players/musicians in the LA music scene today.

Despite having a great career and being a very talented musician, it does seem unfortunate that many Japanese music fans are familiar with LA based musicians such as Steve Lukather and Michael Landau, but not with Carl Verheyen. We hope that Carl’s new release “Mustang Run” will bring opportunities for new listeners to pick up his music. “Mustang Run” definitely portrays “real” music by a “real” musician, and should prove why Carl Verheyen’s name is branded in countless works of music. MUSE ON MUSE asked Carl about his newest studio effort “Mustang Run”.

英国のロックグループ SUPERTRAMP のアルバムへの参加や大規模ツアーへの帯同、そして「STAR TREK」や「ザ・クロウ」、「Mission: Impossible IV」など膨大な数の有名映画作品のサウンドトラックやＴＶ音楽までをもこなすLA音楽シーン屈指のスーパーギタリスト、ミュージシャンであるカール・ヴァーヘイエン。

素晴らしい音楽キャリア、そしてギタリストとしての卓越した才能を持つカールであるが、同じLAを拠点とするスティーヴ・ルカサーやマイケル・ランドウは知っていてもカールのことはまだ知らない日本の音楽ファンが多いことも残念ながら事実である。カールを今まで知らなかった音楽ファンの人達にも彼がリリースした新作「Mustang Run」を是非とも聴いてもらいたい。そこには真にリアルなアーティストによるリアルな音楽が繰り広げられており、なぜカールが膨大な音楽作品の数々に名を刻み続けられるのかを聴き知ることが出来る。新作「Mustang Run」についてカールに訊いた。

カールは新作「Mustang Run」に収録されている曲”Spirit Of Julia”のPVを公開した。絶妙なギタートーンで聴かせるカールのギタープレイは勿論のことバックを務めるCliff Hugo, Simon Phillips, Jim Coxといった豪華メンバーのプレイも要チェックである。

尚、新作「Mustang Run」は8月１日にUSにてリリースされることが決定しており、カールのオフィシャルサイト http://www.carlverheyen.com/ では7月1日より予約受付が開始される。

Derek Sherinian

Derek Sherinian is the Ex-DREAM THEATER keyboard player currently playing for BLACK COUTRY COMMUNION formed by Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham and Joe Bonamassa. Derek is also known for working with Billy Idol and is know releasing an album featuring a hard rock oriented fusion sound.

Participating in the album are Steve Lukather and Simon Philips, who just finished a successful tour to Japan in September as members of TOTO. Steve Stevens, Joe Bonamassa, Tony MacAlpine, Doug Aldrich, and others also take part in the album, all contributing excellent performances.

Derek talks about his album “Oceana” and about the various musicians taking part in the recording.
